The project
I started to work on making mountains with wood back in 2017, first with a scroll saw. An early prototype of VMountain took several weeks to cut, so I bought a hobby lasercutter. In 2020, I finalize VMountains and I start selling them as a traditional web2 shop. 0 sales, as I am no good at marketing. In 2021, I degen a few months in DeFi and NFTs, until I clicked: let's try to sell VMountains as NFTs! It worked amazingly well (full mint with only an annoucement of an annoucement). Since then, I work on new wood mountain designs.
Owning an NFT grants your access to the full lasercutting plans, that you can use to cut it yourself with a lasercutter. The plans are licensed with the Creative Commons CC BY-SA 4.0 license, which basically means you are allowed to resell this commercially, but you need to keep the original atribution (name), and you can modify them, but you'll need to keep the same license. No. This is a creative project, and I wander at different places, ultimately aiming at doing Wood Mountains that resonate.
HexMountain
HexMountains are 1200 hexagon-shaped areas in the world, which are converted into lasercutting plans, and assembled as a 3D model. These areas were chosen once and for good by their owner, and one place can only be owned by one HexMountain. The wood model is based on voxels, which make it compatible with any wood size.
The contract is at hexmountain.nandm.eth, which you can lookup here: https://etherscan.io/enslookup-search?search=hexmountain.nandm.eth
Owning a HexMountain grants you access to the full lasercutting plans licensed under Creative Commons BY-SA 4.0, that you can use to cut it yourself with a lasercutter. These lasercutting plans are compatible with any wood size, but have so far only be used with 2mm thickness wood.
The minting is in 2 steps: First you mint an HexMountain which has no geography applied, a 'blank HexMountain'. Then anytime later, you choose on the map on nand.fr the geography you want to apply to your HexMountain.
After selecting a zone in the map, click the 'Mint' button : it will detect you have one HexMap and no minting of new HexMountain will be asked. You can then press the 'Apply geography' button.
To optimize gas costs, we did not put the geography data inside the NFT. We intend to explore the use a level 2 rollup in the future in order to do that (StarkNet, ZkSync, ...)
Yes! You can choose and apply geography anytime later, so you can buy/sell them anytime.
You have 2 choices: Download the lasercutting plans and ask a lasercutting shop to cut it for you, or ask us to do it. If you want us to do it, please first select the HexMountain(s) you want lasercutted, and click on the 'Request lasercutting' button. A payment of 0.1eth will be asked per HexMountain.
On the map, select one or more connecting HexMountains you own. A download button will then appear next to the 'Laser cutting plans preview' title.
No: for a specific place, only one HexMountain can be minted. That means that there will ever be only 1 HexMountain for your favorite mountain.
No, it is set for good.
They are roughly 16.5x14.5cm if you use Koskisen 2mm plywood.
Yes! When an HexMountain is selected, a 'grid' of grey possible neighbours appears: you can select them as well. You can mint a neighbour of a currently minted HexMountain you do not own.
Yes! There will be connecting gear included in the lasercutting plans. CAREFUL: you'll need to generate the plans, or request us the physical, as a group of HexMountains. If you make it separately for each HexMountain, they won't connect (due to floor altitude being different, ...).
HexMountain Sale
Any holders of VMountain and WL holders will be able to mint for free (one per VMountain owned, one per WL). Discord users also get extra bonuses, see Discord annoucement. The mint start the 16 June at 18:00 UTC. The cost is 0.03 eth per HexMountain.
All holders of VMountain, and WL holders, are entitled to a free mint (one per VMountain owned, one per WL), as long as there are HexMountains remaining to sell. Discord users get extra bonuses as well, see Discord annoucement. CAREFUL : only one HexMountain can be minted per VMountain, so if you bought a VMountain that was already used for a free mint, you will not be able to get a free mint.
Go to the contract on etherscan at https://etherscan.io/address/0xb304bcebcacf64141708a7c0ac72eba40f703ded#readContract , choose the 'hasVMountainBeenUsedForFreeMint' method, and put the number of the VMountain. It will return 'true' if already used.
This free bonus consists of me lasercutting your HexMountain plans and sending them anywhere worldwide for free. BUT: if I get a big backlog of plans to lasercut at once, you may have to wait several months to get it.
If your minted an HexMountain number ends with a 5 (25, 55, 1005, ...), then you're lucky! You will get a lasercutting voucher attached to your ethereum address. Careful: That means that if you buy an HexMountain ending by 5 in the secondary market, you will NOT get this Free bonus.
First you need to apply geography on one of your HexMountain (it cannot be a blank). Then select your HexMountain on the map, and click on 'Request lasercutting' above the 3D preview. Then, fill and submit the form.
20% of all sales on HexMountains (initial mint and any subsequent sold services) will be given to fund Ethereum protocol contributors, via the Protocol Guild (see doc at https://protocol-guild.readthedocs.io/en/latest/ , twitter at https://twitter.com/ProtocolGuild ). This is set in stone in the smart contract.
Because Ethereum is awesome, and I want to support his builders.
VMountain
VMountains are 700 areas of mountains in France, which were converted into lasercutting plans, and a 3D model. The wood model is essentially made of vertically stacked wood slices which reproduce the altitudes. These 700 areas were hardcoded at mint.
The contract is at vmountain.nandm.eth, which you can lookup here: https://etherscan.io/enslookup-search?search=vmountain.nandm.eth
They are in 2 variants, the big and the small one. The big one is 23*20cm, and the smaller one is 9.5x11cm.
You can either use the plans with your lasercutter provider of your choice (Koskisen 2mm plywood is required), or ask me for one : Cost is 0.2 eth for VMountain. Please contact me on Discord.
